This isn’t a staged or simulated experience. Every procedure you’ll assist with is a real veterinary case, meaning no two days are ever the same. Some days may involve active fieldwork, while others focus on observation, data collection, and education — all guided by experienced vets and conservation professionals.

Because our work depends entirely on what animals require veterinary attention at the time, the program is authentically unpredictable. When a call comes in, you’ll join the veterinary team in the field and see true wildlife medicine in action.

While this program is focused on veterinary and conservation work, it’s also designed to give you the full African experience. Between fieldwork and conservation talks, you’ll enjoy a series of exciting excursions that showcase the natural beauty and culture of South Africa.

During your stay, you’ll explore some of the region’s most breathtaking destinations — from wildlife rehabilitation centres and national parks to scenic landmarks and local conservation centres. Each group’s itinerary may vary slightly based on weather, availability, and wildlife schedules, ensuring every experience is unique and unforgettable.

You don’t need prior veterinary experience to take part. Whether you’re a student, a professional, or simply passionate about wildlife and conservation, this program offers a powerful opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute to something meaningful.

You’ll gain practical insight into fieldwork, animal care, and conservation medicine — all while learning directly from licensed wildlife veterinarians and experts in their field.

Practical darting exercises (training with our team)
Darting a moving target from a helicopter (supervised training experience)
Join professional vets on real wildlife call-outs when cases arise
Animal health monitoring, immobilisation protocols & field treatments
Daily debriefs, discussions, and conservation medicine sessions

Excursions may vary slightly due to weather, availability, and operational considerations (including aviation operator safety requirements for helicopter activities).

💰 Program Fee – 2026

Total Cost 2026: US $3,850

To secure your place on the program, a booking deposit of US $1,925 is required at the time of confirmation.

This deposit confirms your participation and allows us to finalise logistics for your experience.

The remaining balance is payable no later than 30 days before your arrival.

While the deposit is non-refundable, it is fully transferable to another available program date or participant if changes are made more than 30 days before arrival.

We understand that travel plans can change — our team will always do our best to assist you in rescheduling or transferring your booking when needed.

Spaces are limited and fill quickly — early booking is highly recommended.

Accommodation – Your Home in the Bush

Your home base for the program is our private wildlife reserve — the perfect combination of comfort, safety, and authentic bush living.

Participants are housed in comfortable thatched chalets built into the rocky hillside, surrounded by wildlife and scenic views. The property is fully fenced and secure while still offering a true connection to the African wilderness.
