Get ready for the adventure of a lifetime in South Africa.
Everything you need to know before you arrive is right here.
🛬 Arrival Information
Arrival Airport: Eastgate Airport, Hoedspruit (HDS) – Eastgate Airport Website
Participants should plan to arrive on the first official day of the program, which is reserved exclusively for arrivals.
We recommend booking the last available flight of the day to Eastgate Airport (±14:30 arrival).
Upon arrival, one of our team members will be waiting just outside the terminal with a clearly marked sign reading “Wildlife Adventure Africa”. You’ll also see your name displayed for easy identification.
After meeting you, we’ll transport you directly to the lodge where you can unpack, settle in, and meet the rest of your group.
The compact size of Eastgate Airport ensures a smooth and seamless transfer experience.
🛫 Departure Information
The final day of the program is set aside exclusively for departures.
We recommend booking the last available flight departing from Eastgate Airport (±14:30).
Our team will ensure you are comfortably transferred back to the airport for your flight home.
🔴 If you plan to arrive or depart outside the designated program dates, please note that you’ll need to secure your own accommodation in or around Hoedspruit. The lodge will be occupied by the next group following your departure.
📢 Insurance – MANDATORY
All participants are required to hold valid travel and medical insurance — this is compulsory.
Your policy must include coverage for:
- Injury and medical treatment
- Emergency evacuation and repatriation
- Loss or damage to personal belongings
This must be arranged at your own cost prior to travel.
💉 Vaccination Requirements for South Africa
Participants are encouraged to consult their travel health provider before traveling, but the following are the standard recommendations for entry into South Africa and participation in our programs:
✅ Required (if applicable):
- Yellow Fever – Only required if you are arriving from, or transiting through, a Yellow Fever endemic country (such as Zambia, Kenya, Uganda, etc.). Proof of vaccination may be requested at entry.
💡 Recommended:
- Tetanus – Should be up to date (within the last 10 years).
- Hepatitis A – Recommended due to potential exposure through food or water.
- Hepatitis B – Recommended for medical-related programs and those working around animals or potential injuries.
- Typhoid – Especially recommended for longer stays or rural travel.
- Rabies – Strongly recommended for participants working closely with animals or wildlife.
🔴 Please Note: Vaccination requirements may vary based on your country of origin, current health guidelines, and personal medical history. We highly recommend consulting your local travel clinic or physician for personalized advice at least 4–6 weeks before travel.
💬 Group Communication
Around one month before your program, you’ll be invited to join a dedicated WhatsApp group with the other participants attending on your dates.
In this group, you’ll receive updates and important travel information directly from our team.
A link will also be shared in the WhatsApp group for you to fill out your flight details — this allows us to coordinate your airport pickup and ensure smooth arrival and departure transfers.
